Fat, food fads and fears – a New Year’s detox?
Speaker: Rob Lyons, author of ‘Panic on a Plate – How Society Developed an Eating Disorder’
|
Food in Britain today is more plentiful, more nutritious, more varied and much more affordable than ever in our history. Schools, workplaces, families and even the womb are seen as places for ‘experts’ to scrutinise our every mouthful. So, what about the old seasonal adage of “eat, drink and be merry”? Will we ever again be allowed to enjoy food without worrying about fat clogging our arteries, a growing girth and ethical eating?
